The Pantheon

Nationalism is like a religion and the Pantheon is the church of Nationalism for France. Situated in the Lain quarter across from the school of law, the temple’s Neoclassical style helps incorporate themes of rationalism, reason, and stoicism. The interior of the Pantheon is decorated with scenes of French heros like Joan of Arc, the soldiers from WWI, and Marianne, who is the national symbol of France. Notable French figures are also buried here like Victor Hugo, Voltaire, and Marie Curie. I think the Pantheon is so import because it not only honors the great men of France, but it honors the great women of France too. The Pantheon is a place of pride and dignity for the French, but I also believe this place can serve as inspiration for the rest of the world to continue to do great things.
