Since May 1, I’ve been trying to walk 10,000 steps per day which is equivalent to a little over 4 miles. I haven’t been super successful. I get it done 2-3 times per week. Mostly, I’m just lazy. I’ve been dragging my kids along with me. We all need the exercise. Hopefully this effort will show when I get to Paris. I don’t want to be the one holding everyone up because of my physical disabilities.
On Sunday, I started my first French lessons. I thought I would remember something from the year of French I took at VCU back in 2001. Nope! My daughter is studying French at the governor’s school and she constantly criticized my French lessons. Regardless, I’m going to keep pushing forward. Here’s hoping I can pick up a few phrases before July.
Monday, I wrapped up everything at the bank. I made sure all my cards would work overseas and that no one would put a hold on my account thinking my cards have been stolen. Everything should be good to go.
Spent a few hours today figuring out the UMW Blogs site and responding to the class email. I’m also planning some of the sites I want to visit while in Paris.
Still a few more things to do in preparation. I must be getting old because I’m not actually thrilled about my upcoming visit. Normally, I enjoy traveling. Maybe it’s because the travel is connected with class? Idk. Maybe it’s because I have to leave my family for a month. A lot has changed since I first signed up for this class. Originally, this was a step for my cemetery preservation business. Since I closed that down this year, I’ve been taking a break from cemetery work. I wanted to study the cemeteries, catacombs, and other burial areas in Paris. I think I still will. We’ll see what happens.

hey, you’re doing better than I am! my entire family caught covid after UMW graduation and the most walking I’ve done in the past week is from my bed to the fridge. 🙂 can’t wait for Paris, I hope your prep continues to go well!
I hope you feel better now. Paris is right around the corner and we’ll all be fine. We got this!
I have been feeling similarly! SOOO much has changed since I signed up for the trip originally in 2019, and I have also been struggling to feel as excited as I was pre-covid and as a 19 year old. Your prep is going better then mine too, I’ve been going on a “brisk” walk every morning since mid-may. I really love starting my day like that, but i’m worried it’s not enough. I really like that you chose to do a step goal, I might start doing that too. Good luck with the rest of prep!
Hey there. I’m glad I’m not alone. I’ve recently found a bit more excitement over the trip. I’m looking forward to several things now. Hopefully you’re seeing similar interest within yourself. Regardless, we’ll all have a good time and learn a lot.
