It has almost been a week since I arrived back in the U.S. after a wonderful month in Paris. This month in Paris gave me a lot of perspective as to what daily life outside the U.S. is like. Here are some of a few things that I miss about Paris:
- Good transportation.
Paris had one of the best transportation systems that I have used. You can efficiently get to anywhere in the city through the use of the metro and RER lines. And if there isn’t a metro near you, the trams or buses are also a good option. The metro and RER always came every 2 to 4 minutes, and I really miss that about Paris. I was in D.C. the day after I got back, and I had to wait for 12 minutes for the correct line train to come. Paris would NEVER!
2. Good bread, cheese, and food in general
I went to the grocery store yesterday with my parents, and when I went to the cheese counter, I just got sad because it just wasn’t the same. French cheese is such a wonderful gift to this world. Later on in the day, all I wanted was some nice brie and a freshly made baguette to put it on. Knoxville doesn’t have any local bakeries that could bring me the joy that a Paul’s baguette could. I also really miss the ability to walk out the doors of my dorm to get a freshly made crepe or walk down the street to a random restaurant to have a delicious meal.
Basically, as soon as I landed in the U.S., I was already planning my trip back to Paris in the future. Until next time Paris!
