This week in food

Today marks the first full week in Paris, which means I thought I would do a reflection of the upmost importance.

“Each flavor was totally unique. But.. to combine one flavor with another and something new was created” – Ratatouille, 2007

The best food I’ve eaten in Paris (week 1) ranked:

  1. Poulet au coconut milk (because I forgot the name of the dish and the restaurant) | the perfect blend of sweet coconut milk with savory chicken and crushed nuts on top with a tart bite from the tomatoes. It was the very first meal I ate here and it was life changing. Thank you Professor Smith’s mom!

2. Falafel from L’as du Fallafel | I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like falafel, and this is honestly the best falafel I’ve ever eaten. It wasn’t dry and crumbly (no tea no shade) like many restaurants in the U.S (CAVA)- rather it was dense and moist. The hot sauce with the taziki was a match made in heaven. My only complaint was the addition of eggplant but I found the nearest Sasha Erpenbach and disposed of them.

3. Spaghetti Carbonara from La Sarrasine | I think it’s obvious from the picture that this tastes amazing, but what really shocks me is that this restaurant is around the corner from Notre Dame, and this dish only cost 9 euros. The Olive Garden in Times Square is quaking.

4.- everything else I’ve eaten | still pretty delicious. All except for the vending machine cafĂ© creme I had which was downright offensive.
