In Paris, compared to other major cities in the U.S., has relatively little waste/trash in the streets. There’s a trash or recycling receptacle close-by so that you don’t ever have to walk too far to throw something away. However there is one item that fails to be adequately disposed of in the city. Cigarette butts can be seen in the street,on the sidewalk, in any conceivable space a cigarette butt could fit in.
When walking around Paris, there seems to be no end to cigarette butts littering the ground.
Although there are more than enough waste receptacles in Paris, they seem to be severely lacking in receptacles solely for cigarette butts. This should be more of a concern for the city considering many Parisians still partake in smoking. One of the only trash cans with a smoking receptacle seen was in the Marais, but none were seen in some of the more buy areas of Paris.
Remember: Butts are litter too!
It’s really something I can’t understand. You wouldn’t flick a wrapper into the street, so why a cigarette butt? There are plenty of garbage cans around to use
