“Being the most striking manifestation of the art of metal structures by which our engineers have shown in Europe, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most striking of our modern national genius.”

As I slowly made my ascent to the top, my heart was beating as fast as a race horse and my hand was as pale as a ghost as I gripped the railing next to me. After climbing nearly 600 steps to the second level, I found myself riding in a glass elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I have never been a fan of heights, but I knew this was a once in a lifetime experience. But the fear I felt was worth it because the views from the top were spectacular, spectacular. When the elevator finally stopped, I managed to peel my hand way from the railing and slowly made way out of the elevator. The first thing I noticed at the top of the tower is it does not sway back and forth like the Washington Monument; this made me feel much safer up there. After adjusting to the height difference, I was able to wonder around. I could hardly contain my excitment as I laid my eyes upon the most famous icons of Paris: the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, the Invalides, and Sacre Coeur. As I felt the breeze upon my face, I felt connected with the city of Paris, and I finally understood why people call it the most beautiful city in the world. The pictures I have posted do not give the views justice!
