Rue Daguerre

Last Friday, before the adventure of the Jazz Club, before the starry-eyed amazement (and directional frustration) at the Louvre, Claire and I ended up in a cute pedestrian market place. Rue Daguerre is located about 5 minutes from the Denfert-Rochereau station, and is probably one of my favorite areas to go in the 14th arrondissement.

Street sign but sideways for unknown reasons.

We got here because I was looking for a fromagerie to browse the prices of fancy cheese. Not only did we find that, but we found a street dedicated to pedestrians that encouraged stopping for fresh meats, fish, fruits and vegetables, and a good cup of coffee. The sidewalk was large and inviting, with the only vehicles bring bikes and scooters (with only one supply truck parked out of the way). There are plenty if cafes and restaurants to choose from. From boulangeries to Thai, there’s something for everyone. I definitely recommend visiting this fantastic little street if you get the chance (Cafe Daguerre has free WiFi, too!).

The Fromagerie we visited with their awesome cow statue.

Cow statue outside a grocer. Also sideways for reasons known only to UMW Blogs.
